Apparently, the recession is blazing it’s trail through the world of high fashion as well. Fashion designers are taking hits which trickles down to fashion models having to take pay cuts even as much as 50%
A recent report from Reuters states:
“…But at the haute couture shows in Paris, the leggy blondes in silk dresses who advertise a life of luxury are finding their world turned inside out by the economic crisis.
“Half price! It’s half-price everywhere, in Milan, even in New York,” cried Anna Chyzh, a 23-year-old from Kiev who had just changed out of a Stephane Rolland haute couture gown into jeans and was headed to the next show.”
“…Shunned by scrimping shoppers amid rising unemployment and fears of a long, deep recession, retailers across the board have cut profit forecasts and marketing budgets.
Even larger luxury goods groups are feeling the pain. Richemont, the Swiss firm behind Montblanc pens and Cartier watches, announced earlier this year it saw no signs of a recovery after third-quarter sales missed forecasts.
Magazine publishers from Conde Nast, which owns Vogue, to Time Inc are seeing advertising sales dive, and the New York Times has said it expects sales to deteriorate further.
At the January fashion shows in Paris and Milan, a prime advertising opportunity for luxury brands, designers hired fewer models than last year. Models and agents are feeling the pinch.”
“…At Premier Model Management in London, an agency that has represented Claudia Schiffer, clients who used to pay a daily rate of 3,000 pounds ($4,200) are now arriving with a budget of 1,500 pounds, director Aidan Jean-Marie told Reuters.
To weather the crisis, agencies are adjusting their mix of so-called “commercial models”, who attract a steady stream of low-key jobs such as catalogue shoots, and pricier “image models” who appear on catwalks and magazine covers.”
“You need both sides to survive the downturn, but the balance shifts slightly towards the commercial models,” said Jean-Marie. “The catwalk girls are not your day-to-day girls, they are anomalies, with measurements they had when they were 16 and still have at 18.”
“Karen Diamond, director at Models 1, the agency of supermodel Agyness Deyn, expects the full impact of the crisis to hit later this year since advertising budgets and show schedules are planned far in advance.”
“Clients will go with established models rather than giving new faces a break, and it’ll be tough for new girls,” she said…”

What about life makes you happy?
What really makes me happy is being able to wake up every morning and be alive. Know that I can do anything I want because I am very strong and have my five senses. Enjoying my life with the people that love me and last but not least being beautiful (LOL)! Because it helps me get wherever I want to
You look like your always happy. How do you stay relaxed?
I relax working out… it sounds weird but it helps me when I’m stressed out. Also, dancing… I just love dancing. Whenever I dance I’m in my own world. Getting a massage is definitely something that will help me relax. And something that may sound funny but is the truth… having sex!! 
When my sexual needs are covered… I feel relax!
Describe your perfect companion.
I’ve always thought that the perfect companion is a dog because they always love you not matter what. I have one that is like my baby. Her name is Katia and she is just perfect. Now, talking about the perfect human companion… then he has to be patient, sincere, honest, must love dogs, support my dreams, don’t be jealous… just a little, be really really good in bed, be my friend and love me with all his heart.
Why do you model?
Because I love it!! Every time I am in front of a camera I feel invincible. I can be anyone I want to… I can be sexy, innocent, a bad girl… just anything! And the most fantastic feeling is when the photographers send me my pictures… I just can’t believe that the person I’m looking at is me!! I look really good… not like the everyday girl I see in the mirror!
Describe your dream life.
My dream life is the perfect life… first of all, my health because without it I would not be able to do what I want. And then… being a famous model and actress, get paid enough to have a big house, travel wherever I feel like it, have big parties, have an enormous closet full of clothes and shoes, live like a queen and still have money to help the people in need and something very important… be with the love of my life.

We’ve talked a lot recently and I feel a great energy from you. Can you tell me what makes you so happy?
The fact that I’m making it, doing my best and working hard for myself makes me extremely happy! It’s almost as if I can see my life laid out on a board and I’m just moving closer and closer to my finish line!
We can all see that you look incredible, but what else do you think of when you think about your beautiful qualities?
I believe that aside from my physical qualities my personality is the most beautiful thing about me. I’m very fun and energetic but I’m also a great friend and listener.
I know you, so I know the answer to this, but do you think you’re a role model?
I do believe I am a role model. I may not have had the picture perfect life, but I worked hard at what I love and I do it for ME. I’m confident and well rounded, humble, intelligent, outgoing and I love kids, animals and helping others. In my mind, that makes me a great roll model.
I, and the rest of the world, would love you to describe your perfect companion.
Hmmmm….aside from a dog or some kind of animal I’d say my perfect companion would have to be someone who is funny, outgoing, sweet, love to party and is just as spontaneous as I am!
For those who don’t know you tell us about you.
I’m a very “get-up-and-go” type of person. I love taking random trips and going out to have fun. I’m spontaneous and outgoing. I love the outdoors (even though the woods kind of creep me out at night!) and I love animals and music. Going to parties and nightclubs is always fun but a blanket and a movie at home with a loved one or with the girls is always good too!
Finally, tell me why you model?
I model because it allows me to express myself and help express others with a photo. Like they say a picture speaks a thousand words!

You seem like an incredibly positive person. What about life makes you happy?
I feel very fortunate to be where I am in life right now. I have a wonderful man in my life who supports me in what I love doing. I also have the courage to pursue what I want to do with my life right now. I get to travel and meet new people. What more could I ask for?
Because you’re on the go you must get stressed at times. Describe how you relax?
Four words: a hot bubble bath. I love them! Probably more than I should. I am so busy most of the time I rarely get to spend hours in the tub. I love to light candles, listen to my iPod, use plenty of bubble bath and bath salts, and have a few of my favorite magazines ready and waiting.
For people who don’t know you, how would you describe yourself?
I wouldn’t say I am a “diva”. I do what I enjoy. I am pretty much a quiet person out of the club and off photo shoots. If you ever met me on the street you would never guess I was the same person. I guess you could say I was never really a pretty child, but when I get in front of the camera all my insecurities seem to melt away. I guess that seems like a superficial reason to be doing what I do, but it makes sense to me.
If you could have a super power what would it be and why?
After watching “My Super Ex-Girlfriend” I am not too sure I would enjoy super powers. But if I had to have them, I would probably want to be able to travel all around the world with a snap of a finger. This way it could save me some money on travel expenses.
What do you dream about the most?
Having the perfect photo shoot. I know it sounds corny but I would love to have everything go perfectly; flawless skin, toned body, great lighting, perfect weather conditions, no wardrobe malfunctions. LOL!

Describe your most beautiful quality?
My most beautiful quality is my kind heart. Mostly everyone says that I have a bad attitude or I’m stuck up or something to that nature. It’s mostly guys who say it because I don’t give them the time or day.
I’m just not for the bull and I can see right through it.
The truth is that I’m really not stuck up or mean. All you have to do is just get to know me. I don’t bite my tongue, whatever comes up comes out-but at the same time I am the nicest person you will ever meet.
I try to help everyone in some kind of way but if you burn your bridge with me then I’m done. There’s no turning back.
You’re clearly motivated. Describe the person that inspires you to be great.
The person that most inspires me is my 71 yr old Great Aunt Eunice Bonton. If it wasn’t for her I don’t know where I’d be. I’ve been with her since I was nine months old.
She is like the grandmother I never had. She taught me everything I know. Things such as: never go anywhere with no money, always dress your best no matter where you go because you never know who you’ll run into, and the obvious don’t depend on no one for anything. She is so glamorous to me.
The stories she tells me about her life need to be in a book and turned into a movie. She is the reason I have the mentality I do and only want the best of the best, because she exposed me to it. As I child she made sure I wanted for nothing, and that I had everything. She is where I get my old soul and wisdom from.
I believe every young woman should have someone like that in their life, guidance if you will. My apologies if I offend anyone reading this but everything she taught me, NO mother can top- They just haven’t been around long enough to gain that kind of wisdom.
She inspires me to shoot for the stars and not to even stop there. That lady is my best friend.
What would you rather have: Money, Power or Respect?
I would rather have the respect. That would make me happy and content knowing that I’m not being disrespected.
Money gives you some sort of power or it makes you feel that way. Money and power make you happy only temporarily. Although, if I had all three I wouldn’t complain..(hahahaha)
As far as big news goes, our new president is definitely the biggest these days. What are your thoughts about our new president Barack Obama?
Barack Obama, wow! He is a phenomenal man. The first time he opened his mouth to speak, I had chills running up my arms and down my spine. Ever since that moment I had faith in him and I knew he was going to be our President.
He is so articulate and intelligent and he sets a wonderful example for our African American culture. It’s amazing that now you can tell African American children and teenagers that they can be anything including the President.
It is a very emotional subject and I cried when he won the election and through the whole ceremony when he got sworn in. I am so proud!
Being the incredible woman that you are many people want to know what you look for in a mate. Please describe your perfect companion for us.
My perfect companion would be phenomenal. He would be caring/loving, romantic, funny, sensitive, hard working, well polished, tall, and built.
I would never have to say anything he would just do it. Meaning if I’m sick he’ll take care of me, if he knows I’m down he’ll show support, if I’m happy then he’s happy and vice versa.
My perfect companion doesn’t smoke and rarely drinks. He would be a REAL MAN. His eyes would never roam because I would be his perfect woman.
